During a weekend trip to Abu Dhabi, we stayed in the 4 star Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, World Trade Centre. Located in the central district of downtown Abu Dhabi, we chose the hotel for its convenience to restaurants and bars in the capital.

We booked our 3 night stay online directly through the Marriott website to take advantage of their summer special which included complimentary breakfast daily for 2.

Location

The hotel was only 30-35 minutes away from Abu Dhabi International Airport and was an easy drive. We hired a rental car in Abu Dhabi so appreciated the complimentary valet parking.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the World Trade Centre mall and souk if you wanted to do a spot of shopping. A large array of dining establishments are also in the WTC Mall if you wanted options on where to eat.

The room

The room was nicely decorated with white linens, bright furnishings and had a king sized bed, desk, tv and minibar with all the essentials.

A large window overlooked adjacent buildings but the view wasn’t anything to rave about as other buildings towered over our room on the 7th floor.

Facilities

A fully equipped gym was available to use for hotel guests. We only used it once, but it had the basics with several treadmills and different weights.

The hotel also had a rooftop bar called Up and Below, next to the outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi (which we didn’t use as it was too hot!). The swimming pool was quite small, but we were the only guests using it so this was fine. After a  long day of sightseeing, the rooftop was a nice little area to relax and escape to on our mini holiday.

Breakfast

The breakfast buffet rotated different menus daily, but had the standard breakfast items like cold cuts, fruits, cheeses, egg station and cereals available all the time. I’m quite indecisive so I find buffets overwhelming at times, but The Bistro breakfast selection had the right variety of food to choose from.
