A tech savvy, stylish hotel with a view: 5 reasons to stay at the W Hong Kong

If you want a stylish and luxe retreat in the middle of the bustling city of Hong Kong, consider a stay at the W in Kowloon. I’m not fussy when it comes to hotels and have happily stayed in different types of accommodation – from small hostels, motels, air bnb’s to 5 star luxury hotels. However, the W has stood out as one of the best places I’ve stayed in for several reasons- the personalised service, the stylish setting and the technological comforts were just some of the features that I enjoyed and listed as some of my 5 reasons to stay in the W Hong Kong.

1. The views

We stayed in the aptly named “Fabulous” room where we were greeted with a stunning floor to ceiling window, spoiling us with expansive views over Kowloon and the bay. Contrasting the bustling scenes of the city below, the room is a stylish sanctuary where you can bask in true Hong Kong style and luxury.

2. The personalised service & welcome

My boyfriend (now husband!) had notified the staff prior that we were celebrating our engagement. They arranged a mini platter of sweets and rose petals on the bed on our arrival, as well as a small note from the General Manager welcoming us which we thought was a nice simple gesture.

Service upon check in was also smooth, with the agents well versed on the sights around the area offering different tips on what to do and see.

3. The Facilities

The rooftop swimming pool area wowed us even more, as surrounding glass walls overlook a captivating and scenic view of the city. A feature mosaic wall of butterflies added a nice touch to the already impressive pool area. Unfortunately during out visit it was cold so we didn’t get a chance to take a dip!

4. Tech Comforts

Most hotels provide complimentary wifi and usb ports for charging – but thats usually where it stops when it comes to modern day conveniences. Being connected is an important part of peoples lives, and we appreciated the technology that the W Hong Kong had embraced and incorporated in each room. An in room tablet with a city guide, lcd tv, iphone/ipod dock and a tv screen in the bathtub provided us with plenty of entertainment that we didn’t want to leave the room. Ever.

5. The Location

Hong Kong is generally quite accessible with the amount of public transport available to locals and visitors. The W Hong Kong is no exception and was within easy reach of the Temple Street Night Markets and Goldfish Street/Ladies Markets. Other famous sights such as Victorias Peak, , Causeway Bay and Hong Kong Disneyland are also within 1h – 1h15min away by public transport, with Kowloon Station a 2 min walk away. Choices for restaurants in the vicinity are plentiful – from cheap street eats in Mong Kok, to luxury hotel restaurants with a view and Michelin starred chefs.
