For our recent weekend trip to Muscat, we stayed in the 4 star Best Western Premier hotel. We chose the hotel mostly because it was reasonably priced.

The hotel is located in Al Wukhair, a 15-20 minute drive from Muscat International Airport and is walking distance to a few restaurants and supermarkets. It also has 2 on site restaurants – a buffet/cafe, an Omani restaurant and a Starbucks in the lobby. If you have hired a car and are driving, basement and street parking are complimentary and the hotel is quite accessible to most sites as its centrally located. If you plan to walk, Shatti Beach is the only attraction (as well as some restaurants listed above) that you can probably walk to, however, taxis were always available in front of the hotel.

The lobby and reception areas provide a seating area with complimentary water while you wait to be checked into your room.

Theres a small indoor swimming pool and gymnasium inside the hotel that we didn’t use. They looked pretty basic, but we weren’t too particular on the facilities as we spent most of our time outside the hotel exploring.

Service was good, and the agent at check in was more than willing to help when we asked about local attractions (although it probably would have been nice to be offered first at their own initiative).

Our room was situated on the 7th floor so we had some solid views of the city against the mountainous backdrop. Being centrally located, we didn’t have any issues with outside noise from the traffic.

The room itself was spacious with a king sized bed, a sofa, desk and bathroom (with an awesome rain shower head). It was clean, neat and the beds were comfortable.

If you want a no fuss environment at reasonable prices in Muscat, we recommend a stay at the Best Western Premier.
